I’m Looking Forward to Trying X2 Performance #TeamX2

Disclaimer: I’m a #TeamX2 blogger and excited to work with X2 Performance in a paid campaign to help me achieve my fitness goals. All opinions are my own.. I recently became an X2 Performance Brand ambassador and I’m excited to share with my readers and fellow #Teamx2 bloggers my experiences with the product. While a lot of the other bloggers are runners, cross-fitters and triathalon runners, I think being both a ballet dancer and a runner makes me kind of unique. Although some people may see ballet as not as intense as some of these, it definitely can be. Add in the occasional run, and I’m a super active person throughout the week.

Hot Chocolate 5K Recap

As you might remember, I was a brand ambassador for the Hot Chocolate 5k, and I wrote two posts about it: here and here. I was given free entry into the race, which happened this past Sunday.

I haven’t run much at all this winter/spring for two reasons: the weather has been absolutely freezing and I’ve been focusing on ballet. I wasn’t even planning on running the Hot Chocolate race, but I figured I should give it a shot after HQ and I went on a fairly successful run last Wednesday. My plan was to walk/run most of it.

Handling a Bad Class

Between walking all over center city Thursday evening and the impending rain–HQ and I cancelled our plans to go to ballet. Plus, I felt horrible–I had been having pretty bad headaches all day,  so it made sense to relax and take it easy.

On Friday I was having a series of bad migraines too–probably as a result of the start of allergy season.  But this time, I decided to go to class anyway in hopes the headache would go away. Unfortunately, it didn’t.

My First Attempt at Meal Prepping

I’ve decided that it’s finally time I do some serious meal prepping.

I’ve been doing a little bit of meal prepping by prepping my lunches for the week ahead by buying a bunch of veggies (carrots, cucumbers, bell peppers) and chopping them on Sunday ahead of time.  I also usually make some spicy mayo dip to go with it like you get a sushi place. The rest of my lunch usually ends up being yogurt and some fruits like bananas and apples (as well as the occasional smoothie).

Beginner Ballerina Profile: Krishna

This week’s profile is of Krishna, who in addition to being a dancer herself, taught a ballet basics class to visually impaired women in NYC at Visions at Selis Manor last summer and teaches ballet to her sports medicine clients.

When did you start doing ballet as an adult?
I had always been a ballet dancer, however while I was a college student, I developed a very aggressive form of glaucoma and lost a significant portion of my sight.  I was too afraid to dance at all for years.  When I finally got up the courage to begin dancing again, it took me over a year to find a teacher who felt comfortable even having a visually impaired dancer in the classroom.  I have been studying seriously again for the past two years.
